Special Needs Moms

I just finished the short book The Child Who Never Grew” (with reviews and ratings on the Goodreads website) by Pearl Buck, who won both

Pearl Buck receiving the Nobel Prize from the King of Sweden

the Pulitzer Prize and the Nobel Prize for Literature for her writings. She was the mother of a mentally challenged daughter, and the book is a memoir of her experience of this aspect of her life.  She writes of events in the early 20th Century, a different and darker era for the Special Needs community, but with feelings that are universal for those in a similar situations. Pearl Buck was a gifted and driven person, and the experience was very difficult for her.

Following the same theme, Katherine Paulson has written a post  in her weblog Without a Crystal Ball: Raising a Child with Special Needs

Here’s the post: Why Special Needs Moms Don’t Fit In

I’m sure some of you will be able to relate to both of these writings.
