the Social Security Administration- “System Disabled”

click on:

System DisabledYoung workers who contract Parkinson’s disease

Synopsis: The government often makes a person who has become disabled fight for benefits- especially those who become disabled before they are old. There is no personal interview; the reviewer assembles the papers and quickly decides.  If they see any way that such a person can work- say, phone solicitor- they are denied.  And it often has to go to court.

The article brings forth the stories of  real people who are involved in these situations- Frank Ferraro, Sandy Harr.

The people involved are obviously in a very difficult situation, and on top of it, there is this struggle.

The article is from the CP Pittsburgh City Paper: the arts,  entertainment and news weekly.
