Also, organizations dedicated to the specific advocacy for persons with a specific disability- developmental disability, autism, the many various physical disabilities, and other specific disabilities often have support groups for parents, not only for information and tools to advocate for their child but also for mutual support.
The specific support groups which the Center for Exceptional Families and other such groups offers can indeed provide us with friends who understand our specific situations and can give us advice which specifically addresses our dilemnas related to disability. But we must always remember that this is a secondary support; the Church is the Ark by which we will survive the storms of this present life and gain passage to glorious wholeness and the unspeakable joy of God’s presence.
