Parental views toward children with blindness- Ethiopia

The following 97 page thesis was written and posted online by Fisseha Zelalem toward the requirements of an M.A. in Special Needs Education at Addis Ababa University.

THE ATTITUDES OF PARENTS TOWARDS THEIR BLIND CHILDREN: A CASE STUDY IN BAHIR DAR TOWN

Ethiopia is an Oriental Orthodox country. Bahir Dar Town has an Ethiopian Orthodox monastery. Orthodox Christian perspectives are discussed in the thesis on pp. 9-10.

Here is what one (apparently) non-Orthodox Christian, Michael Rooney, says about the dedication of the Ethiopian Orthodox Christians he observed:

“The devout nature of the Ethiopian people is unlike anything I have ever seen. I have never committed/dedicated myself to anything (except maybe the Steelers) nearly as much as the people of Lalibela have dedicated themselves to their faith.”
